Youth Community Center – HOPE through Sports Project

BORAH Youth Center With the high level of unemployment and lack of education, the youth in poor areas face great social pressure and many times are confronted with the option of partaking in criminal activities, such as violence or alcohol abuse. This problem has been found to be most severe in low-income neighborhoods, where kids are often left unsupervised and inactive for several hours after school hours and a lot of youth are unemployed. Studies have shown that at-risk urban teenagers, particularly unemployed boys are likely to become involved with criminal activities in their idle state. This problem is not only prevalent in large cities but small villages that have no jobs for the youth

BORAH does recognize this issue and provides solutions, as means of combating other problems such as teen pregnancy, alcohol abuse and crime. One such solution is the development of of Sport programs and the establishment of Youth Sports Centers. Partnering with accomplished Sportsmen living overseas, BORAH is working to provide sports centers, sporting programs, and leadership training for the youth in selected areas. .
